Ricardo - Baroque & Country Dance
Ricardo Barros is a historical dance specialist.
He has performed and choreographed for the stage in productions in the UK and abroad (often in Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Brazil), where he also frequently teaches.
Recent productions include 'A celebration of Purcell' at the Cadogan Hall (London), video production of 'Princess Passpied for Kensington Palace & Yale Centre for British Art, Rameau's operas 'Anacréon', 'Zaïs' and 'Pygmaleon' at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), 'Terra Brasilis' programme in Mannheim (Germany), 'Les Arts Réunis' in São Paulo (Brazil) - the first fully staged historical production in that country, and further partnerships with the Royal College of Music, Wallace Collection and Handel House Museum, to name a few.
He is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and chairman of the EADH-European Association of Dance Historians, and his PhD thesis 'Dance as a Discourse' is available worldwide on Amazon.
